Veeam has made it very easy to upgrade to Backup & Recovery V9. With the automated configuration backup, this allows the V8 configuration to be easily migrated onto V9. The new features for the new version of Veeam Backup & Recovery can be found on the Veeam Website.
Once V9 was implemented, I installed the Veeam Proxy Server to ensure load is taken from the Hyper-V nodes during backup Windows. The Veeam Proxy Server needs to have access directly to the volumes that contain the Hyper-V .VHDX files and associated snapshots for the volumes. If on iSCSI then the snapshot tools from the SAN Vendor need to be installed on the server so that the server can access the data.
